More research, and love, and good times :)

Yesterday the wife and I discussed Tiramisu and coffee with the owner of the Turkish grocery store. When the subject of writing came up, I told him about my new work in progress, and he did something most of my friends don't do. He asked me to tell him more :D

I told him how researching Islam has opened my eyes, and how wonderful Muslim people have been to us over the past few weeks. He hugged me and gave us a box of dates :)

This morning, the man at the Lebanese store asked us to come back at 5PM because he wanted to show us something. He has such a sweet face and a wonderful personality, we love him. (He makes great sausage)

I had no idea what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised when we found out that he wanted to introduce us to his family. The little girl likes me. His son wants to be a writer. It doesn't get much better than this.

I've been toying with the idea of writing a book about a spiritual journey with food. As I explained to the man at the Turkish store, the thing that crosses all boundaries, and we all have in common, is a love of food. He agreed.

So, now I have two books to write

The Turkish Islamic Cultural Center on Queens Boulevard promotes the arts, and our Turkish friend wants to introduce us to the man who runs it. He says they would find my books interesting. I hugged him :)

I think it would be wise to approach everything like a writer. People love when you show an interest in them, and their life.

I love this job
