I've always wanted someone to read my book and say "Wow, I love your writing" and I don't mean the story alone, I mean the writing. To me there's no greater compliment because I take this thing very serious.
I love when my beta readers say it. I had one say "I want to fuck this paragraph, I want to mount it and make love to it, but that would be wrong because it's yours." It was a paragraph about me stepping out of a bar.
I wanted to mount her critique and make love to 'it.'
Beta readers have improved my stuff enough to garner ten minutes of how good my writing is from Jason last night. He loves the dynamic between the characters and the dialogue, and the way I interact with women. He asked if there are more sex scenes in the second half of the book :D
I thank the people who took time to help. My beta readers, the people on AW who generously share their knowledge and experience, and my wife who threw Strunk and White at my head a year and a half ago.
With all I know, and all I think I bring to the world, you guys complete me as a writer. I would be nothing without you.
I love my beta readers. They are the ones who got me where I am...
ReplyDeleteI think you bring up a good point. While it's important to know what to correct or the flaws we have- it's also important to know what works...
I adore my betas.
ReplyDeleteOk, now I can't wait to read the sex scenes... :)
ReplyDeleteI am a dirty girl.
I'm with you, bettielee. ;)
ReplyDeleteI’m right there with Lori and Bettielee. :) And I totally understand what you mean about beta readers. My MS would not be the tale it is today without them.
ReplyDeleteThanks you ladies.
